# about

Hi — I'm Zainab. I work across the full lifecycle of software: writing the code, coordinating the people, and operating the infrastructure it runs on. That mix lets me build things that don't just work in a demo, but in production — on schedule, on budget, and with the team behind them feeling good about it.

Most recently I was solution architect and lead engineer on Nexus, a suite of five integrated systems: HMS, LIS, RIS, Accounting and HR. It is now going live at a private hospital in the Kurdistan Region.

Curious about complex systems, allergic to unnecessary complexity. I believe great delivery is part craft, part communication.

# projects

Five systems I architected and built as one integrated suite, Nexus, for a private hospital in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. They share one patient record, one security model and one double-entry ledger, in English and Arabic (RTL). Each also stands on its own.

HMS: Hospital Management System

Clinical core

The clinical and operational core, from the front desk to discharge: admissions, clinics, ED, wards, ICU, maternity, theatre, pharmacy and blood bank, with safety gates built into the workflow. It also joins the other four systems into one HMIS.

Laboratory

A complete lab system that runs as its own business unit: order and pay in one transaction, specimens and barcodes, a 12-stage audited order status, age- and sex-specific flagging and QC gates. Includes an HL7 v2 analyser gateway and a result simulator.

The full imaging workflow: technologist worklist, DICOM modality worklist, Orthanc PACS with an embedded OHIF viewer, and structured reporting with two-step approval. Includes a stdlib-only Go DICOM modality simulator.

Finance

Hospital ERP finance: a double-entry general ledger that every money flow posts to automatically, separate books per business unit, a pricing engine that never charges a silent zero, and cashiering, insurance, procurement and fixed assets.

People

People, time, compliance, rostering and payroll. The roster detects clashes, including night shifts that cross midnight. The payroll engine builds each month from attendance with a dry-run preview and posts accrual and payment to the ledger.
